Product Review: Kroger Yogurt Smoothie Bars, Fudge Bars, Fruit Bars and Ice Cream Sandwiches

Thanks to bzzagent.com I was able to sample for free the new ice cream bars from Kroger. I decided to try out the Kroger Yogurt Smoothie Bars in Strawberry/Banana flavor.

I love the flavor, but more than that, I love the low calories that are included. At about 100 calories per bar, these are an almost guilt-free treat during the hot summers in North Carolina. The yogurt content makes the ice cream bar as creamy as a bar loaded with much more fat and many more calories. In addition, as you lick your way through the goodness, you come across plenty of fresh fruit frozen into the bar. There is a lot of real strawberry in each bar and so this is close to what I would imaging home-made frozen treats combining banana and strawberries would look like. The bar is relatively small, but for a snack it is the perfect size. In addition, the packaging does the calorie counting for you and so even for people on a diet, this a snack that you can fit into your routine.

The above picture indicates the outside of the box and they are not deceiving you with having the real fresh fruit playing such a prominent role on the package. The box of these treats sells for about $4.50 at the local Kroger store, but you get plenty of enjoyment out of them. Plus you actually get an ice cream bar that tastes like real fruit and not an artificial concoction that has fruit puree mixed in with a bunch of other ingredients.

I also got some $ off coupons in addition to a free coupon through bzzagent.com and will likely try another frozen treat from this line of Kroger products. They have ice cream sandwiches as well as popsicles. Since I am fruit person, I will try to find the popsicles next. At my local Kroger on S. Roxboro, I only found the Strawberry/Banana flavor and not the Triple Berry flavor in the yogurt bars. But I did enjoy this free treat because it actually tasted like frozen fruit - a big plus in my book!
