Crowdtap sampling: SPLENDA ZERO Liquid Sweetener!

Through Crowdtap I was able to sample SPLENDA ZERO Liquid Sweetener, which is a liquid sweetener and perfect for use in summer iced beverages. When sugar or sweetener take longer to dissolve, SPLENDA ZERO Liquid Sweetener sweetens the beverage in no time because as a liquid you just have to mix the bottle up and you are all set. In addition, picking the right amount of sweetener is no problem either because you just select the usual number of drops and the sweetness is consistent between beverages.
In addition, the compact size of  SPLENDA ZERO Liquid Sweetener makes it perfect to carry along in your purse and sweeten your beverage at a restaurant or mix your own lemonade using powder. What a money saver too! Pack a couple of lemonade packages, some SPLENDA ZERO Liquid Sweetener and refill your water bottle as you go during the day.

Crowdtap sampling: Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative by Silk

Thanks to Crowdtap I was able to sample the Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative by Silk, which comes in a variety of flavors and retails in the Raleigh Durham area for a little bit more than $1 per container. We selected the pineapple flavor and it turned out to be really great. You really could not tell the difference between regular and Silk yogurt, but the Silk seemed a little bit lighter to me, even though the flavor to me was identical.

If you want to sample this product, you can go to the website of Silk here and get a coupon for some really nice savings. The texture of this product is smooth and creamy and the flavor, as I stated earlier, is identical to regular yogurt. Besides the pineapple, you can also get blueberry, strawberry, peach-mango and of course vanilla, among other flavors. We will definitely consider this product as a healthy alternative to incorporate into desserts when we invite some of our friends who cannot tolerate lactose and still want to enjoy a dairy-type dessert. The Silk website has many really nice dessert recipes that allow you to incorporate the Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative.

Crowdtap sampling: Nutchello by Silk

Through Crowdtap, I was able to sample Nutchello by Silk. This is a new product incorporating nut-based milk and flavors such as dark chocolate and toasted coconut. I also sampled the dark chocolate with walnut, also delicious, but as a coconut fan, the toasted coconut with cashews hit the spot and reminded me of sunny beaches and palm trees. Sipping on Nutchello is perfect for an after work pick me up before you start dinner or just enjoy some Nutchello when you find a few minutes in your hectic schedule to sit down and enjoy a book or gather your thoughts.
Nutchello, because it is based on nuts and not dairy milk, is lighter than regular milk and did not leave me feeling as full as other milk. The toasted coconut flavor was awesome, just the perfect amount of sweetness that made this drink almost a liquid dessert.
If you are looking for a treat, consider one of the three Nutchello flavors and do something good for your mind and body.

Crowdtap sampling: Folgers Coffeehouse Blend - strong, yet smooth coffee flavor

Through Crowdtap, I was able to sample the new blend by Folgers. The blend is called Folgers Coffeehouse Blend is supposed to be a European style coffee with a smooth, distinct taste. It is definitely not bitter and has a strong coffee flavor, usually associated with darker roasts that are also showing a tendency to be more bitter.  I got the Folgers Coffeehouse for Keurig and it worked perfectly, but you can also buy the coffee for normal drip coffeemakers. Either way, the coffee tastes great whether enjoyed black like I did or with some cream and sugar like my mom. We are both fans of this new blend because it reminds us of the coffee we used to enjoy in Europe.

Through Influenster, I received a sample of Zzzquil, which is a nighttime sleep aid to help you sleep. It is not for pain and should only be used to help you sleep. In addition, when taking Zzzquil, you should allow yourself to get 8 hours of sleep. Product Review: Hill’s Science Diet Healthy Cuisine

Through Crowdtap I received samples of Hills Science Diet canned dog food. The food is designed for a healthy cuisine for adult dogs and comes in two flavors, chicken with veggies and beef with veggies. My dog loved both kinds and gobbled them up like Thanksgiving Dinner ;)

I trust the name Hills Science Diet and the food is well worth the money spent on buying canned food. This brand is made in the USA, not some foreign country, where dog food is often laced with chemicals and can cause healh issues.
Hills Science Diet Adult Healthy Cuisine balances taste and nutrition for your dog and comes as a blend of meat and vegetables in a tender, tasty sauce. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives present in the food and based on how my puppy gobbled things up, it must be tasting good!

copyright Durhamonthecheap - my great sample kit, two flavors - both much appreciated by Floppy!

copyright Durhamonthecheap - Floppy definitely enjoys the dog food and will beg as soon as he sees the can!
So if you are worried about what may be present in canned dog food, give Hills Science Diet Healthy Cuisine a try. My puppy gives it two paws up!

Book Review: Sister Eve and the Blue Nun (A Divine Private Detective Agency Mystery) by Lynne Hinton

let me start off by saying, if you like the Pater Brown stories by Chesterton, this is no Pater Brown and unfortunately not even close. This is sad because the premise of the book is fun, a nun that rides motorbikes and happens to solve crimes. Should be fairly easy to write an entertaining series of books out of that, considering that in TV shows such as Call the Midwife we see not only some feisty nuns, but also entertaining characters. Unfortunately the author created a character that is at times utterly boring and then also either stupid or just too careless to be left alone to wander the world.

The main character is Sister Eve (short for Evangelina) - again not to be confused with the entertaining and gutsy character on Call the Midwife played by Pam Ferris. This nun is riding motorbikes, but is otherwise incredibly bland and slow to apply common sense to the most mundane problem. In this book, Dr. Kelly Middlesworth, a researcher focused on the Blue Nun, is slated to give a presentation at the Pecos Abbey to give a presentation, but ends up being murdered before it comes to the presentation time. In addition, some rare historic documents are also missing and the suspect is initially the brother of the victim.

During the investigation, the reading becomes a real chore because Sister Eve is rethinking herself way too many times and takes an incredibly long time to be practical and believable. I always find it puzzling why authors write about characters that lack total common sense and have no substitute in place. Because of Sister Eve's slow progress, most readers will be able to figure out the murder long before the book discloses it and that makes the book not only slow moving, but also boring.

Overall, I am not recommending this book because compared to Pater Brown it is a total letdown. The character is not very interesting. Note: simply assuming that a motorbiking nun is going to be entertaining is wrong. People actually look for interesting characters, well thought out plotl-ines and unexpected surprises. Unfortunately, this book has none of that.
