Aldi special until this coming Tuesday: Atlanta Cheesecake Company Italian Mascarpone Torta

I decided to splurge for the Saturday breakfast and bought a weekly special from Aldi, an Italian Mascarpone cake. The weekly specials for this week (from last Wednesday until this coming Tuesday) are listed here. The Mascarpone cake was somewhat pricey for the usual weekly specials at Aldi; for 8 pre-cut slices the cake cost $7.99 (for comparison, cheesecakes by the company are listed for online ordering at around $30 here). But again, weekend breakfasts are special and they are a nice, slow beginning to two days off work, so I decided to go and buy a special cake to go with some home-made offerings. It looked really good in the image and the description for Mascarpone cakes online sounded like a lighter version of the usual cheesecake.
Today, we had the cake and I am very impressed. The cake is a cheesecake-type flavor, with hints of lemon, covered by a light crumb crust that tastes like sweet butter. The Mascarpone cake is lighter than a traditional cheesecake and each of the slices is very filling. If you have kids, you may want to split a piece; the slices are really good size.
The pictures below show the actual cake that only needs defrosting for two hours at room-temperature (or overnight in the fridge) and then is easily packaged to put nicely on a serving plate. I included a picture of the packaging to show the company name. Aldi stores them in the freezer under weekly specials and because the price is somewhat high for the usual Aldi line of products, my store still had plenty left.

I can highly recommend the cake for a special occasion or for a nice coffee break with the family. Since it is a weekly special, Aldi may not offer it again for some time. So if you have the freezer space, go and buy one now. I was very impressed and will be sad to see the last piece disappear!

This post above is true 100%!!! I can only add that when I went back to buy another Italian cheesecake - it was all gone! so the price apparently was not that high for our area...I even wrote them to order more but they said it's limited only. If there is something really good and customers want it - Aldi is missing a chance in earning $$ by NOT having it...
Sad...

Hi Beacia, I am glad you enjoyed the Mascarpone cake as well and I can totally understand your disappointment. I am hoping that since it seemed to have been a good seller, Aldi will bring it back from time to time. Unfortunately that is one of the drawbacks of shopping at Aldi, you get exposed to some things you really like and then you may have to wait a long time to see it appear again in the stores. I am waiting on Aldi to have a sale on bathroom fixtures again. They had a good sale a couple of years ago and I did stock up, but having moved recently into another house I am ready for another sale at Aldi!

Aldi will have it on sale from time to time. They had mascarpone cake in their store just recently. So keep an eye out for it on the Aldi website.

Hello... I bought one of these Tortas about six weeks ago and found it to be delicious ! I come from a family of great cooks and bakers so most of the time we make our offerings ourselves. I am not opposed to trying new things though, so, I bought one of these and it was real treat. I took part of it to my Mom's house and together we agreed that if we needed something to serve and no time to create it ourselves, this would definitely be something we'd have no problem serving. With that being said, I found it at Walmart and I thought I paid $8 for it back then. Tonight I went to pick up two for a birthday party at work tomorrow and they were $8.50. I guess it could have been that much before and I just didn't remember it correctly. Anyway... if it's for something special, I don't suppose 50 cents more would be big deal. No more waiting for Aldi to put it on special :)
